Church For Sale

My parents were Printers by trade. You know the people you go to when you need business cards or letterhead made up. They were entrepreneurs and owned several of their own businesses. Some they started, and others they purchased from other people. But all, at least all that I can remember revolved around printing in some form or another.

When I was young my mom would see an empty retail space and say "That would be a good spot for a print shop"... It was more or less a pipe dream, that is to say it would have only become a reality if we could some how work out the financing of the property and work real hard to make it work. It seemed as if every company that went out of business (ironically, some because of their location) could make it as a print shop. Looking back, that is exactly what Fedex Office (Formally Kinko's) did. Placing small little shops all around town that fed to one large print shop.

The reason this comes to light, is because I just caught myself saying "That would be a good spot for a church." In today's world it seems that we have churches on every corner. Some have been around for years, and others are just getting on their feet. But the same concept hold true, no matter their size or age. They are looking to help rescue those who are leading sinful lives, and to introduce us sinners to Jesus.

These past few months have been nothing short of amazing for me. I have been a christian all my life. Or at least that is what I would say if I was ever asked. The truth is that I dedicated myself to Jesus in August of 2009. Yes, I attended church when I was younger. Sometimes regularly, and other times only twice a year.

A few of my friends brought to my attention that I might consider a career in ministry. I really hadn't put much thought into it until late. I love to serve others. I have been volunteering with RiverTown Church for over a year now. Although it started out slow, I have begun to dedicate more and more of my services to the church, and have watched it and its membership grow. It is an amazing feeling to see something you greatly care about grow and prosper. I hope that I am able to continue giving myself away to the church, and others in the future.

Maybe the addage I picked up from my mother, is my sub-conscience (or the holy spirit) telling me this is the next direction of my life.
